Gravity

I did this a while back..
Also I love contemporary dance

Threee Deeee final project

This was by far my most favorite class at Ringling this semester, and I totally geeked out on this project. The assignment was to invent a character and hence create an environment for the character, so I learnt how to use some badass wood cutting machines :)

So my character is inspired by the Pink Floyd song Pigs, and is a perspective on politicians. His name is President Boaris. And the environment I built for him was a presidential office. Needless to say, I enjoyed every single bit of this project, from the idea to the concept to the final paintings and everything. Enjoy!

Fly you fools!

Whoops, almost a month since my last update.. there's good reason behind that! I spent pretty much most of the past three weeks in the animation labs, working on the Animal Jump assignment for TA. Without further ado: A day in the life of Private Maxwell.

Biiig, big thanks to Jackson on this one, right from the story to the final editing and stuff :) Go check out his blog!

This was a really cool assignment for Drawing 2, we had to design the room/living space of a known character. I hope you guys can guess who's room this is, I put some obvious clues in there. This was both fun and frustrating to work on, because I loved the character but I have no clue on how lighting works. Or filters. Photoshop is pretty cool. I kinda also watched all the LOTR movies while working on this, which made me feel pretty epic. Aaaand the character I chose was Gandalf. I probably shall not pass..

Here's some process work:

How I feel right now that these two projects are over:

Until the next time, I shall go there and back again

Okay I'm done with the LOTR references

Character Sheet!

We were made to pick up a strip of paper from a hat.. and I got a raccoon! I wasn't familiar with raccoons at all when I started this assignment, but now my YouTube history is just raccoons. Everyone had been depicting raccoons as thieves, so I wanted to do something different. Presenting Private Eye Maxwell.

Of Flour Sacks and Character Designs

The past three weeks of my life have been consumed by this fat, adorable little flour sack, who comes in my dreams because I have been looking at him for so long. We had to work on two exercises, a simple flour sack jump and a slightly more complicated story which was to be about 15 seconds long. Presenting "Mr. Flour Sack on Valentine's Day":

We recently completed this project for 3D design, modeling a clay sculpture from a live model.

Now comes the awesomely fun part of 3D. For the next two months we're going to be working on an original character design: designing the character, costume, staging, set design, the works. I am BEYOND excited for this.
This is the character I came up with (which needs so much more development):

The pig itself was inspired by the song 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' by Pink Floyd, from their album Animals. Goosebumps every time I listen to it.

Spring Semester!

This semester at Ringling is ridiculously amazing, tear-inducing and rewarding. Animating on Ringling's marvelous Disney desks make you feel so special and fancy! So here's some work from this semester:

Cannot tell you how many wiggly jello videos I watched for that.

Aaand some stuff from 3D Design:

I absolutely LOVE clay. Even though the oil clay tore most of my skin, it was super fun to work with.

And the final dun dun done of them all

2D design - We had to make an abstract composition and then convert it to a realistic image. Not gonna lie, I kinda decided what the representational image would be and worked on the abstract according to that. The idea was inspired by the Cloud Atlas Sextet from the most amazing movie of all time - Cloud Atlas. If you haven't watched it, WATCH IT NOWWWWWWW it's mind blowingly asesomeeeee asdjhf kadhf~

Anywhoo here it is, the only 2D project that I'm kind of proud of:

I tried mimicking John P Smolko's technique of making up objects from scribbles.. it was fun (and of course time consuming) to do. But now I'm officially DONEEEEEEEEE

Time to go home, sleep and eat.
